Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas: An Elegant Oasis of Luxury in the Heart of the Strip

Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas is a luxury hotel located in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip.

From award-winning restaurants and entertainment to conferences and convention centers—Las Vegas truly has it all.

I’ve traveled there frequently over the years for business and pleasure, and it often comes as a surprise to others when they learn that Las Vegas is one of my favorite destinations for relaxation.

While it may be best-known for glitzy casinos, over-the-top shows, and vibrant nightlife, there is a completely different side to Sin City—one that includes luxurious spas, elegant afternoon tea service, and plenty of poolside relaxation. Whenever I book a trip to Las Vegas, I opt for the latter experience—and while some might return home on Sunday nursing a hangover, I always leave feeling refreshed.

The Best Spas in Las Vegas

During a recent jaunt to Las Vegas with my husband, we stayed at Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas—a luxury non-gaming hotel located in the center of the Strip. Close enough to the action without compromising its tranquil atmosphere, the 5-star property includes a luxury spa, world-class dining options, incredible views from just about every space, elegant and modern accommodations, and much more.

From amenities to insider tips, read on to discover everything you need to know about Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas when planning your next getaway.

The hotel features a sophisticated interior design that is elegant and tranquil.

Why You’ll Love It

One of only 13 non-gaming hotels on the Las Vegas Strip, Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas is an elegant 5-star retreat just steps away from many of the city’s main attractions. As a non-smoking hotel, it offers guests an elevated experience so you feel refreshed and relaxed from the moment you enter until you leave.

The 47-story, 392-room hotel offers stunning floor-to-ceiling views of the city and Strip from throughout the property including its luxurious guest rooms and suites, all of which feature sophisticated amenities and my personal favorite: spa-soaking tubs.

Stand-out amenities include an eighth-floor pool deck, state-of-the-art fitness center, spacious yoga studio with complimentary fitness classes, and the award-winning Waldorf Astoria Spa, which spans 27,000 square feet spread across two floors and has a wide range of luxury amenities, treatments, and incredible views.

The hotel recently added two new upscale bar experiences to its already impressive selection of elevated culinary offerings, and it has an abundance of meeting and events space for corporate groups and business travelers, ranging from intimate boardrooms to lavish ballrooms.

Bonus: because Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas doesn’t have a casino and the typical attractions that other hotels have including multiple restaurants, entertainment venues, and shopping—the hotel never feels crowded and the valet line is signifcantly shorter. It’s a breath of fresh air that transports you away from the busy Vegas scene for the ultimate relaxing escape.

Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas is also known for its incredible city and Strip views from every space.

Accommodations

Whether you book a room or a suite at Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas, you can expect to experience luxury at its finest. All accommodations feature an elegant and tranquil aesthetic that sets the stage for a relaxing stay. Floor-to-ceiling windows showcase views of the City or Strip, and the spacious bathrooms have large soaking tubs.

We stayed in a City View Room with a king bed that included a comfortable sitting area, desk, and a large valet closet with a section that could be opened from the outside in case we wanted laundry picked up, shoes shined, newspaper delivery, etc.

Aside from the luxurious bed linens, pillows, and black-out shades (all of which contributed to a great night’s sleep) and the fantastic view from our room, my other favorite feature was the bathroom, which included a double vanity, spacious shower, and an extra deep soaking tub with complimentary bath salts (which I made sure to take advantage of during both nights of our stay).

When there was downtime during the trip (especially when my husband went to the casino), there was nothing I enjoyed more than lounging in bed while wearing a hotel bathrobe and watching TV—I could have spent an entire day in our room without leaving, it was that comfortable.

All accommodations include spa-soaking tubs for an elevated bath-time experience.

If you’re looking to upgrade your stay, Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas has several other great options as well. Their Panorama Strip View One-Bedroom Suites are located on the corner angle of the building and take advantage of its architecture, which creates unique and interesting spaces for the bedroom, sitting room, and bar area.

For accommodations that feel like home, the hotel’s Villa One-Bedroom Suite includes a private dining area, bar, pantry, and views of the Citycenter and Strip from the bedroom.

There’s also a Penthouse Panorama View Suite with 270-degree panoramic views of the Strip, and several different Presidential Suite options including a spacious two-bedroom suite with a fitness area and a bathroom with a sunken bath that overlooks the city.

Amenities

The eighth-floor pool deck is among the hotel’s many highlights with two pools, whirlpool hot tubs, poolside loungers, cabanas (available for rent), a Pool Café, and personalized waiter service.

The pool deck offers great views including of nearby hotels Aria and The Cosmopolitan, and since it’s only open to hotel guests, the vibe is more upscale and relaxed—a far cry from the typical day-club pool party scene in Las Vegas.

The fitness center and yoga studio are also located on the eighth floor, along with the hotel’s award-winning Waldorf Astoria Spa.

The eighth-floor pool deck offers stunning views, cabanas and loungers, and a Pool Café.

Another great amenity that guests should utilize during their stay is the hotel’s Concierge team, who are members of the prestigious Les Clefs d’Or association.

It’s the only national association of professional hotel concierges mostly found at 4- and 5-star hotels, and from booking dinner recommendations at the city’s hottest restaurants to curating a custom itinerary for each guest, there’s nothing they can’t do.

The hotel’s concierge team is available to help guests plan their stay while in Las Vegas.

We also enjoyed the hotel’s house car, which will drop guests off within a 2-mile range on the Strip. It’s offered on a first-come, first-served basis and you have to check availability with the doorman.

Our driver wore a uniform and the car had a luxurious leather interior and was stocked with bottled water. It felt extra fancy being shuttled to our dinner destination in the house car—not to mention that it saved us some money on Uber as well!

A complimentary house car is available and will drop guests off within a 2-mile range on the Strip.

Cuisine

Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas offers an impressive selection of culinary experiences ranging from classy afternoon tea to chic bars with expansive views.

During our stay we experienced several of the hotel’s dining outlets, but we just missed the two brand-new bars, which opened a week after our visit. Guess that means we’ll just have to stop by the next time we’re in town to check them out!

Zen Kitchen

Open for breakfast, lunch, and inner, Zen Kitchen serves fresh and seasonal American cuisine and is the main dining space at the hotel. Because we had dinner reservations at other places on both nights, we enjoyed breakfast there and it was a great way to start the day.

The menu features a wide selection of classic breakfast items like eggs Benedict and traditional American breakfast; sandwiches and salads for lunch; and sushi rolls and steaks for dinner. A few must-try items for breakfast include the chef’s pastry basket (all house-made), vanilla pancakes, chicken and waffles, and the Wagyu steak and eggs.

Don’t have time for a sit-down meal? There’s a counter next to the entrance to Zen Kitchen where guests can order coffee and pastries to go, which we did one morning when we had an 11 a.m. show to catch at The Sphere. It’s the perfect option for when you need a quick latte or muffin to get you going in the morning!

Open all day, Zen Kitchen is the hotel’s main dining spot and serves fresh and seasonal American cuisine.

Hard Shake

Located on the 23rd floor, Hard Shake is one of the new bar destinations that was recently unveiled at Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas. The intimate bar and lounge space is located where the previous SkyBar was, and its floor-to-ceiling glass walls offer the perfect backdrop for enjoying a craft cocktail.

It also features a late-night bar menu with small bites like honey shrimp with candied walnuts and a slider trio, in addition to sweet treats such as Bananas Foster and creme brûlée.

Peacock Alley

The other newest addition to the hotel, Peacock Alley is an eye-catching space that exudes Hollywood glamour with a baby blue, feather-shaped bar and views of the Strip.

The lounge, which draws inspiration from the original Peacock Alley (a corridor that connected NYC’s Waldorf and Astoria Hotels named after affluent guests who strutted around like peacocks), is another hip spot for enjoying cocktails, small bites, and afternoon tea.

The cocktail menu features craft cocktails like The Marilyn and The Bogart, which have been named after iconic Hollywood stars. Delicacies to try include sesame tuna, roasted garlic hummus with Naan bread, and potato and caviar, among others.

Peacock Alley is the other new bar addition to Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas and exudes Old Hollywood glamour.

Afternoon tea is not to be missed, and is available Wednesday through Sunday with seatings at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. Since we were staying at the hotel prior to Peacock Alley’s opening, our afternoon tea service was held in the Skybar, which is now closed.

The afternoon tea includes a curated selection of sweet and savory treats including mini sandwiches, freshly baked scones, pretty desserts, and freshly brewed loose-leaf tea. For an elevated tea experience, endless mimosas, Bellinis, and a chef’s selection of cures meats and cheeses can be added on for an extra charge.

The other highlight of afternoon tea was being able to take in the beautiful views of the city and Las Vegas strip while enjoying our tea and tasty bites—it was definitely one of the most memorable afternoon tea experiences I’ve ever had.

Afternoon tea is offered Wednesday through Sunday at Peacock Alley and offers a curated selection of treats set against floor-to-ceiling glass windows.

Spa & Wellness

I’ve been to my fair share of spas in Las Vegas over the years, and I can honestly say that Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas has one of the best spas I’ve been to.

For one, it’s located on the hotel’s eighth floor and directly overlooks the Strip and other parts of the city, so you can expect incredible views from throughout the entire spa, which has floor-to-ceiling glass windows that welcome in plenty of natural light.

Spa Profile: Waldorf Astoria Spa Las Vegas

Spanning 27,000 square feet, Waldorf Astoria Spa Las Vegas is spread across two floors and offers plenty of space to relax alone, with a partner, or a group of friends.

Its many amenities include various relaxation areas such as a co-ed lounge, separate men’s and women’s facilities, and an impressive hydrotherapy circuit with a Turkish hammam, experience showers, herbal steam room, laconium, ice fountain, tepidarium chairs, and a heated vitality pool.

The award-winning Waldorf Astoria Spa Las Vegas is a 27,000-square-foot wellness sanctuary that includes a Vitality Pool with stunning views.

Once I was in the vitality pool, I didn’t want to leave. It felt so relaxing in the warm water, which was soothing to my tired muscles while I observed the bustling Strip below. Both the men’s and women’s areas have their own vitality pools, each offering a different view.

The tepidarium seats were my other favorite feature of the spa—they’re located in a quiet corner of the spa and offer views of the rollercoaster at New York-New York Hotel & Casino. It was fun to watch the rollercoaster speed by while relaxing on the heated ceramic tiles.

My husband and I had a Couple’s Relaxation Massage and our therapists were fantastic—we both left feeling relaxed, rejuvenated, and ready for another night out on the town! For a detailed review of Waldorf Astoria Spa Las Vegas, check out my writeup here.

There’s also personal training and tailored fitness programs available, not to mention complimentary fitness classes for hotel guests in the yoga studio, which is located inside the fitness center and overlooks the pool deck and city.

Activities

Due to its central location, Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas is within walking distance (and a short drive) to many of the area’s premier attractions. Nearby hotels include Aria, The Cosmopolitan, and MGM Grand, and popular attractions like The Shops at Crystals, Hershey’s Chocolate World, Fountains of Bellagio, and Eataly Las Vegas are all within walking distance.

During our stay, we had dinners at Delilah at Wynn Las Vegas (11 min away) and Beauty & Essex at The Cosmopolitan (5 min away), and the latter was so close that we walked.

We also saw a show at The Sphere (11 min away), and enjoyed some late-night shopping at The Shops at Crystals, which was an easy walk. Since our hotel didn’t have a casino, my husband walked over to Aria when he wanted to play Blackjack, which was just a few minutes away as well.

The hotel is only a 10-minute drive from Harry Reid International Airport, which makes it easy and convenient for guests that are flying to and from Las Vegas.
